Do you like to drink warm tea? Are you curious about foreign cultures, tastes and spices? Come with me to India where the chai tea will take you into its colorful world. What makes every cup of Chai so special are cardamom, ginger and cinnamon – these spices not only heal your body but also your soul!

It might seem difficult to make but it is not. The only thing you need is a little bit of patience, some ingredients and love.

Ingredients:

  • One 2-inch piece fresh ginger, unpeeled, thinly sliced
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 cups water
  • 4 black tea bags, such as Assam or English Breakfast
  • 2 cups whole milk (use coconut or coconut/almond milk for a plant-based version)

Instructions

Mix the ginger, 1 tablespoon each sugar and honey, vanilla, cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, nutmeg, and water into a small cooking pot and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove it from the heat and add the tea bags. Stir it for 10 minutes. The next step is to scoop the ginger and cinnamon out of the tea and add the milk. Taste the brew and add more honey/sugar if desired. Before serving warm it on a stove.
